The rule ledger
Wefen produces the evidence along with the schedule. Each rule reports how it was applied across the whole rota, and each assignment can be traced back to the rules that shaped it.

AI-assisted rules

Self-service for clinicians
Every clinician gets their own login and sees their own rota. No more screenshots of a spreadsheet doing the rounds on a group chat.

Trust and security
Rota data is staff data. Here is how we look after it, and what your information governance team will want on file long before a pilot starts.
Wefen runs entirely on Amazon Web Services in the London region. Scheduling data does not leave AWS UK and EU infrastructure in normal operation, and it is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Everyone signs in with their own account. Administrative access to our infrastructure requires multi-factor authentication throughout, and every administrative action is logged and kept for 12 months.
Your organisation remains the controller of its staff data and we process it only to run the service. No analytics cookies and no marketing cookies, on the product or on this site.

Wefen is made by Workforce Innovation Solutions, a Manchester company founded by the two people who spent the previous decade building Malinko, a scheduling platform used by care providers across the UK. We are not learning this problem on your rota.
We started building Malinko, scheduling software for social care providers. Andrew and Kyle have worked together since the beginning.
We began working within the NHS, selling to NHS trusts, community interest companies and local authorities providing out of hospital care.
Following the sale of the business, the platform was rebranded as Civica Scheduling, rewritten and properly integrated into Civica's wider software.
We founded Workforce Innovation Solutions in Manchester to build the scheduling engine we had spent a decade wishing for.

Founders
Andrew created Malinko and has spent more than a decade building workforce software that organisations rely on every day.
A developer, project manager and business owner, he is at his best turning messy operational problems into working software.

Kyle was a senior engineer at Malinko from its early days through to its sale, and was instrumental in building most of the platform. Along the way he saw the same problem again and again: scheduling takes skilled people away from the job they are actually there to do.
He makes the technical decisions at Workforce Innovation Solutions and builds our products, including Wefen's scheduling engine: the rules, the generation and the scoring at its heart.
